“Saturday option”
This year MB Coaching is providing an optional extra day for $100 per head. If you would like to arrive on Saturday 19 January, we will arrange for your accommodation and organise a group ride on Sunday morning. Dinner on Saturday night will also be included in this package. We are providing the option for an extra day because of the change to TDU schedule this year. With the TDU race now beginning on Sunday, we are unable to include a ride for everyone on Sunday afternoon. The Saturday option is to allow for you to get extra day of riding in. If you would like to take advantage of this option, you must let Marcel know when you are paying your deposit as we will need to make appropriate accommodation arrangements.
Who: The tour has been designed for members of MB Coaching. This year we have introduced a TDU ‘novice’ class to the usual riding schedule. This group will do a modified riding program. As with previous years, the majority of riders will participate in rides between 70-150 km per day. In addition to the novice class, there will be three groups leaving each day to accommodate for different levels of fitness and ability. In the lead up to TDU, Marcel will design your training program to ensure you have the fitness to enjoy all the riding Adelaide has to offer.
Tour numbers are restricted so reserve your place early.
What will you get?
- A week of challenging rides with a qualified cycling coach and vehicle backup
- Entry to the Get Active Tour (ride stage 4 of the tour in its entirety)
- 8 nights accommodation in self contained units in the heart of Adelaide
- Function to welcome the first stage of the Tour held at the Stag Hotel (tbc)
- Lunch will be provided on a number of days of the tour including lunch at Muggletons in Hahndorf and the Barn on Saturday in McLaren Vale
- Tuesday and Thursday a picnic lunch will be provided
- Transport for you and your bike back from stages of the Tour Down Under
- An MB Coaching Tour Kit and water bottle
- One massage during the tour
Changes to TDU
- Tour organisers have changed the format of TDU for 2008. The opening stage will now be held on the Sunday that we arrive at Glenelg. Monday is a rest day and the stages proper begin on Tuesday. This means that our itinerary will be changed from past years.
- With the first stage of the race now scheduled for Sunday afternoon we are encouraging you to book your flight to arrive on late Sunday morning. Both Qantas and Virgin have a service at that time. This will provide enough time for Marcel and his helpers to build all the bikes, ready for our first ride on Monday morning.
- Alternatively, you may chose to take advantage of the Saturday option and arrive a day earlier.
Key dates:
- 9 November $500 deposit.
- 14 December payment in full.
NB: There are limited places. To be guaranteed of a spot, you must have paid your deposit.
